Blood Pressure
华文版 -- 谈血压
You cuffed your arm with the inflatable cuff, pressed on the button, and the machine goes "brrrrrrrrr..........."
OK, the result is...
SYS.mmhg = 119
DIA.mmhg = 82
PuL = 64
So your doctor will go on and tell you, your blood pressure is good. We will try to keep it under 140/90.
So what do those numbers really mean?
Blood pressure is the pressure the flow of our blood exerting on the walls of the arteries (blood vessels bringing blood away from the heart). In a simpler term, it's how forcefully our blood is being pushed at the time.
SYS -- or systolic blood pressure, is the blood pressure when the heart is contacting/pushing the blood out from the heart.
DIA -- or diastolic blood pressure is the blood pressure when the heart relaxes.
So there must be two numbers for our blood pressure, not just one, and both numbers are equally important.
Here's a reference for you:
Many times, high blood pressure can go unnoticed for a long time, and a very high pressure can silently cause stroke or even heart attack without any signs of warning prior to that.
Commonly high blood pressure causes headache, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, numbness, blurring of vision.
In anyways, don't wait until the symptoms start to show, as sometimes it may already be irreversible.
Take less salty food and exercise more, can help giving you a more healthy pressure.
Stay happy and healthy folks 😆
